NORTH DEVON WRITING RETREAT
A ‘just write’ retreat in our picturesque North Devon 1600s thatched house, from Thursday February 20th until Sunday 23rd 2020. (Extra days before or after are also potentially available at a special price, just ask.) With a special one day Ask An Agent session just for you, with fab London Agents Hattie Grunewald (the Blair Partnership), and Zoe Plant (the Bent Agency).
Come settle down in your own cosy room with writing desk & lamp, tea/coffee making facilities, the comfiest beds, fluffy towels, and Egyptian cotton bedding. Full board including afternoon tea, coffee, cake; wine with supper. Mini home gym, fab country walks and Labrador therapy! Roaring fire in the lounge and great company – like-minded people all writing their novels and awaiting the rare opportunity to meet two top London agents during the all day ‘Ask an Agent’ session on the Saturday.

Submit your work (first 3,000 words and synopsis) prior to the weekend and receive feedback in a 15 minute one-to-one with each lady.
Our studio also contains the mini home gym, an extensive library of ‘how to write a novel’ books. And a huge television, great broadband, Netflix et cetera. Or just relax around the roaring fire each night after a hearty home-cooked supper, to discuss writerly things, with your fellow guests.
Please note almost half the places have already been taken. (Our 2019 pitch to a publisher weekend was a runaway success and sold out very quickly). It’s essential to book as early as possible.

THE AGENTS
HATTIE GRUNEWALD – The Blair Partnership
Hattie Grünewald is an Agent at The Blair Partnership. She represents commercial and upmarket fiction – including women’s fiction, crime and thriller, historical and book club fiction. Before joining the Blair Partnership she was a literary agent at Blake Friedmann Agency, where she worked for six years. Hattie has a degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia and she is also a poet.

ZOE PLANT
Zoë Plant joined The Bent Agency in 2019 and is building a list that is focused on commercial children’s, YA and adult fiction. She has a particular love of fantasy, science fiction, horror and anything a little bit nerdy, but is also on the look-out for strong contemporary voices and high concept settings. Prior to arriving at the Bent Agency, she spent five years as a literary scout, scouring the UK market for the very best children’s and adult books to recommend to international publishers.

Our regular ‘Just Write’ retreats have no tuition, just me-time to get your writing done. They are usually Mon to Fri. From £98pppn full board inc wine at supper. Two a month most months. Some with a yoga stretch class each day. Occasional weekends.
